Monthly Focus – Decluttering
I don’t know about you but I tend to hold onto things for too long in my life. In fact I know I hoard things!
I find it hard to throw things away. I hate waste, so my tenancy is to always want to give something away before throwing it. If someone can make use of it, then I’m happy. So often, not much has been thrown out!
So this month, (I actually already started in July) I will be decluttering.
We’ve all heard the expression ‘out with the old, in with the new”. It is so important when we want to bring things into our life, to make sure we have created space for them. This can only happen when there is a release or a letting go of the old.
A good friend of mine gave me some great advice recently. She told me to see how I feel when I look at an item I’m deciding to keep. To ask my s elf do i feel energised, positive and alive when I see it or hold it. Or do I feel heavy, and tired. This is a wonderful way to help us decide when it comes to throwing pit or clearing out our things.
She learnt this through Mari Kondo www.konmari.com , who has written a great books on decluttering. I haven’t read them yet but plan to!

My husband is the opposite to me. He can easily throw things, and is always keeping a decluttered space. I’m inspired by this and am finally attempting to also do the same.
This is my challenge this month and ongoing.
How do you feel about clutter?
Do you keep things for a long time?
I’d love to hear from you.
