MONTHLY FOCUS – JULY
HYDRATION
This month we will focus on Hydration!
Many health authorities say we should drink up to 2 litres of water per day. Yet other gurus say we should only sip on water throughout the day.
I think it is defiantly up to the individual and also depends on what exercise we are doing or climate we are living in.
Remember the body is made up of approx 60% water.
I’ve read a very interesting book called ‘ Your body’s many cries for water – You’re not sick you’re thirsty’ by F. Batmanghelidj, MD. This is his website The Water Cure .
He believes water has powerful pain relieving properties and dehydration can be the cause of many illnesses, disease and pain. Such as; Low back and neck pain, headaches, Arthritis, Stress, Depression, High blood pressure and more.
One reason hydration effects our joints is because we require water for lubrication inside the joints. Exercise also helps to lubricate the joints by crating a vacuum and circulating water into the joint.
We apparently lose our thirst function as we age, so often forget to drink as much as we need to.
I often forget to drink unless I carry around my water bottle with me every where I go. This helps me monitor how much I’ve had and makes me continue to sip on water throughout the day.
How much do you drink?
Do you have ways to monitor how much you drink?
This is just a reminder to drink enough during the day and start to notice if you miss your body’s cues to drink.
