It’s been an interesting few years for me — and for those who’ve been following me, know I’ve been navigating the ups and downs of menopause.

I’m now considered post menopause going on 3 plus years.

The good news? My symptoms are finally easing (most days), and I’m feeling stronger, calmer, have more energy and am more connected to my body again.

However it wasn’t that way for a few years. I think I had every possible symptom in the book!

Running two businesses didn’t help, I couldn’t get as much rest as I felt I needed.

So I found the biggest help for me was learning to say NO more often. It was the hardest thing to put myself first in some instances and not care what others thought of me, but it was my savior.

Without saying no to things I’d normally just do, often to please others, helped me feel more grounded. If I didn’t I think I would have exploded at times haha,  well actually I still exploded at times 😉

Can you relate?

How often are you people pleasing at the expense of your own self care?

Of course there are many moments it’s unavoidable, but often there are times we can choose ourselves, and that’s not being selfish.

I even struggled to workout as often, as intensely and for as long.

However for a while I not only had menopause symptoms but at the same time long covid- something I haven’t spoken about publicly much as yet.

I found baby steps, just doing little bits of exercise when I felt I could, helped me feel back in my body again. I didn’t push it, just went with the flow. If I didn’t feel like moving I didn’t do it.

I was kind to myself which I think is essential in those moments. We have to remember to treat ourselves like we would a friend. Support ourselves when needed and speak kindly to ourselves. That’s often not easy for us. We have different seasons in life. Sometimes it’s fine to push ourselves a bit more, other times we need to listen and nurture ourselves and rest.

Thankfully I’m now back moving more now and am enjoying having more energy again.

If you’re also struggling with menopause or perimenopause symptoms, you’re not alone — and remember to be kind to yourself through this season of life.

As part of celebrating World Menopause Awareness Day, I’m sharing a special class taken from the Core Fit Club  Library, that focuses on mindfulness when moving, when can really support you during menopause. You’ll have s access this class until 20th October. Be sure to let me know how you like this class.

World Menopause Awareness Day is about more than just raising awareness—it’s about celebrating the strength and resilience of women during midlife. It’s a call to action for women to own their transition, take charge of their health, and support one another in the process.

Let’s use this World Menopause Awareness Day to embrace where we are right now and celebrate the strength we can build. And remember, you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to help you every step of the way.

Reach out if you need support in your physical and mental practice.

Lots of love
