Letting go
Letting go is one of the most powerful things you can do to be happy in life.
Letting go means accepting what is.
It means letting go of preconceived ideas of how you think things should be, or could be, or would be if….
It means letting go of outcomes that have already passed, of outcomes you want in the future, it means surrendering to what is.
Letting go doesn’t mean that you stop working towards your goals, studying, learning, taking action, staying hungry for what you want in life. It means when you’ve done all you can, when you have done your best to make the things you want happen, then, only then, you let go and surrender to the outcome.
Once you have done all you can, you can let go of any attachment to the outcome. What will be will be.
Holding onto the past, the future, the feelings, the worry, the fears, the anger, the anxiety….only keeps it alive. Let it go, clear your mind. It’s only when we can let go we can stop our suffering.
Living in the present moment is the only way to be really happy.
We not only hold onto emotions, thoughts, feelings in our mind, but we also hold on in our body. It’s all one. What hold onto in our minds and in our hearts we also store in our body.
Our body shows us, it helps us to see what we need to uncover in ourselves.
Letting go of tension in our physical body is another way to help us let go mentally and vice versa.
Our stress shows up in our body. It can show up in tightness of muscles, in aches and pains, in stiffness and in posture. We can get messages from our body about what is going on that we may need look at.
For all these reasons it is important to know when you need to rest your body, stretching, releasing and or relaxing the body can help to unwind it. Helping the body let go will help the mind let go.
We need strength in our body, our muscles need to be strong to hold us up, however we also need suppleness, mobility and flexibility.
This is also true for our character, we need strength but we need to be vulnerable. There is always yin and yang. Opposites in life. Our goal is to keep a balance.
Learn to let go in your body and feel how you can let go more in your mind and letting go in our mind helps us to let go in our body.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic, if it resonates with you.
This month is our letting go month.
What can you let go of more in your life?
Lots of love
