June Focus - Sleep
This month I thought we could pay attention to our sleep.
Are you getting enough? Is it good quality?
I’m sure you already know a lot about it and why it’s so important we get enough sleep.
I know I am very guilty of sleeping at around 11.30pm or later on a regular basis even though I’m aware of how important it is to sleep early.
I know I could be feeling better in my body and mind if I slept earlier on a more regular basis.
In case you need some reminders of why it’s so important, here are just a few reasons;
- we reach for the wrong food when we are tired and tend to choose sugar, caffeine or something that will keep us awake
- our hours before 12 pm are the most important as this is when our body detoxes.
- we are more focused and alert with enough sleep.
- we are more likely to get up earlier to exercise, which also has it’s benefits.
- enough sleep improves our immune system.
Some reminders to help us sleep easier and earlier are;
- try to eat earlier so you are not going to bed on a full stomach.
- shut down your lap top or iPhone at least 1 hour before bed time (this is my challenge)
- read a book in bed rather than your phone to help you wind down
- make sure you are sleeping in a dark space to help you sleep deeply.
- This month lets aim for 10pm to bed!
Let me know how you go!
