The Roll Up

A great exercise for mobilizing the spine and working the abdominals. 

Learn how to do the Roll Up properly as well as a modification that may suit you if you struggle with the full exercise.

Pilates is ideally practiced to be tailored to your particular body type and daily habits. If you sit with a rounded back at your desk for hours at a time, this may not be the best exercise for you to do too often. You may be better to choose an exercise to arch (or in pilates we say extend) your back. Although you sit at your desk all day with a straight or arched back and get tight in the lower back due to sitting, this maybe an appropriate exercise to do often to stretch your back. Think about your posture in every day life and think about what your body needs in order to balance it before repeating an exercise too often.
