I hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the more relaxing Yoga sessions.
Today we’re back to Pilates!
You know I love all 3, Pilates, Barre & Yoga, and luckily we don’t have to choose one over the other…
But if we did have to, I would choose Pilates.
It keeps my body in good functioning order. It really focuses on the deep stabilising core muscles and because of this helps prevent and heal injuries.
To me it combines the flexibility and focus of yoga and the strength of barre all in one, plus with the added core and good posture focus.
Joseph Pilates said;
“By exercising your stomach muscles, you wring out the body, you don’t catch colds, you don’t get cancer, you don’t get hernias. Do animals get hernias? Do animals go on diets?”
Today’s session will focus on the deep abdominal connection and mobility of the spine.
It will include some intermediate exercises, so be sure to take modifications when needed.
A few people have said they have had back and neck tension after last week’s pilates as they pushed themselves too much. These are not areas you want to feel tension in and you MUST take modifications to avoid this.
– Keep imprint spine if you don’t yet have enough abdominal strength to hold neutral. (see principle 1 in welcome email)
– Keep legs bent rather than straight and or outstretched, if you’re a beginner and or feel back tension.
This is important until you build strength and stamina for the progressions.
– Keep head down if doing sit ups makes your neck sore. Do a couple and take a break if you feel tension.
– Listen to your body and do not push yourself until you are ready. You must take note of what your body is ready for.

3. Great news!! You can stream to the TV!
All you need is a Chrome Cast(a small device that plugs into the back of the TV)
Then you can download an app, the one I have is called “Streamer for Chrome-cast”
It’s super simple and easy to use! I use apple phone but you can get the apps on Android as well.
Then all you do is mirror your device! Basically whatever you have on your phone or tablet shows on the TV!
So head to your local store and get a Chrome cast – it will be perfect for the remainder of the challenge!
